NEW Almay Pure Blends Makeup Review

Looking better fit in a garden than fluorescent-lit drugstores, Almay's new Pure Blends natural makeup caught my eye from all the way across a Walgreens. Regardless of how it performed, I'm one of those aesthete suckers who would buy the line for the sole purpose of it looking pretty in my makeup bag. But not only are the goods affordable but their quality (except for the mascara!) is as lovely as the packaging.

Have any of you tried the line? What did you think?

Pretty factor: Every product (all hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested) contains antioxidant-rich lotus, orchid, papaya and acai extracts. The petal-pretty blushes and smooth eye shadows are infused with mica to give subtle shimmer. Natural-hued lip glosses moisturize with a generous amount of sweet almond oil. Most impressively, the liquid foundation contains jojoba oil to hydrate and decongest pores and squalene to soothe and nourish skin tissue. My only complaint is that it lacks SPF.

Unfortunately, the mascara greatly disappointed. The thin brush gives zero volume and the formula was dry and flaky.

Eco factor: Pure Blends products contain over 95% natural ingredients with no parabens, talc, or artificial fragrance. They come in packaging made with 35% to 45% post-consumer recycled material

To buy: $7.50 to $13 at drugstores nationwide and drugstore.com

Hey Hollie! Thank you for the well wishes and encouragement! Sometimes I get frustrated doing all this work unpaid, but I know that I'm serving some people.

I hope you're doing well and that NYC is being good to you.

I just bought the almay pure blends liquid foundation. I tried it on and so far so good, I'm just waiting for a day with nothing to do to see how it lasts all day, anyone who has tried it with any information on it, it would be much appreciated to let me in on it! =D

But so far I love it, and it actually matches my skin tone! (which is hard for me to find)

I've been using the pure blends foundations for the last couple of weeks and I like it. It's light and helps even out my skin tone. It doesn't work miracles but I like the way it feels and I'm not looking for complete coverage. Plus there's no bad smell and so far no additional break outs or allergic reactions.

I bought the foundation and was disappointed. The coverage is so light that I'd call it a tinted moisturizer (LIGHTLY tinted moisturizer) and it made me break out all over my face. I have very sensitive skin and if I don't use makeup that is totally natural I break out, so obviously this isn't completely natural. So now I've got a whole bottle just sitting around.

I have the eye shadow and it goes on smooth and pretty but it doesn't have any staying power what so ever. It doesn't let you build color either (apply more for a darker shade). It's nice if you want something light and shimmery but if your looking for a more dramatic look, look elsewhere.

I bought both the liquid foundation and finishing powder, and both came with free samples of the lipgloss and eyeshadow. This is quite possibly the WORST makeup I have ever tried! The foundation has ZERO coverage, and is so oily it never felt fully dry on my skin. I took a chance and wore it to school anyway, and by the time I got home, it looked like I had nothing on at all, aside from the splotches it had left all over my face! As far as the finishing powder goes, good luck getting out of the package without making a complete mess. I gave up. Now I have $25.00 worth of makeup I have to throw away. P.S. the lipgloss is the only upside to the entire collection. It looks great and goes on smoothly-as long as you can stand the horrible smell and taste of it. HATE THIS COLLECTION!!

I am extremely unsatisfied with this product. Do not buy it. It made me break out all over my face.

Awesome! I live that is free of silicones, parabens, talc etc. Make up is light but evens out skin tone, eyeshadows goes lighter than appear but still visible. I love it, easily achived no make up look, but flawless at the same time!

Stumbled upon this thread and just wanted to add that I recently bought the mascara...its awful! Everytime I touch an eyelash it flakes off. Physicians FOrmula is much better or Loreal Bare Naturel...

i was very excited about trying this new "natural" make up line but was horribly disappointed! it made me break out terribly after i had worked so hard to have a clear complexion, every single pore freaked out!!! DO NOT BUY if you have acne prone skin!

i tried the lipgloss ("peach") and i like how it looks - a neutral kind of color/shine that makes you look cute but not over the top.

but it smells really bad. sort of like an orange cream sickle mixed with plastic. the smell is really strong when you put it on but then fades away. i don't think i would buy this again but its tolerable.

I have tried many brands of make-up, weeded out the goods from the bads, and I'm sorry to say that Alman Pure Blends foundation didn't agree with my skin at ALL. It caused a great deal of irritation---please take great care using it!
